5 Reasons To Have Food Sensitivity Test

In this blog post I will tell you about the benefits of having a food sensitivity test, the difference from food allergy testing and symptoms of food sensitivity.

There are several reasons why you might consider a food sensitivitytest. Here are five potential reasons:

1. Identifying food sensitivities: Food sensitivitytests, such as IgG antibody testing, can help identify specific foods that may be triggering inflammation in your body. By pinpointing these sensitivities, you can make informed dietary changes to reduce inflammation and potentially alleviate related symptoms such as bloating, joint pain, fatigue, or skin issues.

2. A personalized dietary approach: The results of a food inflammation test can provide you with a personalized dietary approach that takes into account your specific sensitivities. This can help you develop a targeted elimination diet or modify your current eating habits to minimize inflammation and optimize your overall health.

3. Improved digestive health: Inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract can lead to digestive problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), acid reflux, or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). By identifying and eliminating the specific foods that trigger inflammation, you may experience relief from these digestive issues and promote better gut health.

4. Enhanced athletic performance: Inflammation can hinder athletic performance and impede recovery. By identifying and avoiding foods that cause inflammation in your body, you may experience improved energy levels, reduced muscle soreness, and enhanced recovery, allowing you to perform at your best.

5. General health and well-being: Chronic inflammation has been linked to various health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and autoimmune disorders.

By identifying and eliminating inflammatory triggers through a food sensitivity test, you can potentially reduce your risk of developing these conditions, promote overall health, and improve your quality of life.

Results should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical information, and it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or registered Nutritional Therapist like myself before making significant dietary changes.

A food intolerance test or food sensitivity test will not test for histamine intolerance or lactose intolerance. If you suspect you have a histamine intolerance it is best to get in touch with me to have a consultation to identify what is causing your health problems. The benefit of having a nutritional consultation allows the client and the therapist to dig deep into the health history to find what may be the root cause of the health problem. This allows the therapist to make dietary recommendations, suggest investigative testing and supporting nutritional supplements.

Food inflammation or food sensitivity tests are one of the most popular tests I recommend in clinic. It is popular with clients with long term digestive issues such as bloating, flatulance, IBS, also tiredness and fatigue and skin issues such as dry and itchy skin, eczema, joint pain, headaches, and reflux aslo have been attributed to food sensitivities.

It is important to recognise having a food sensitivity is not the same as having a food alergy. An alergy is IgE antibody mediated reaction and it is a quick onset. Food sensitivity test checks for IgG reactions and the onset of the food reaction is delayed, this is why it is difficult to identify if you are reacting to some foods. The time span for a food sensitivity reaction is usually anything from 2 hours to 72 hours. An IgG food intolerance reaction is not life threatening but for some people it can be severe and uncomfortable. Once you get your test results You will be guided how to eliminate and introduce new foods into your diet. This type of dietary modification can be life changing for some and help with symptom elimination.

If you suspect you may have a food sensitivity get in touch for testing information and a consultation.
